Thursday 25 December 2008 Bon Accord Harbour Kawau

It’s great when a plan comes together.

We had a really good sail up yesterday. Beam reaching under main & genoa most of the way and dropping anchor in Bon Accord late yesterday.

Today we headed out to do some fishing but got side tracked. Me making blueberry muffins and Rob cursing the outboard which is cutting out. And before we got our act together it was time to head to Sandspit to collect the family.

This involved a nail biting trip while we watched both depth sounders count down as the approach to the Matakana river is very shallow. We got in with a metre under our keel at a couple of hours after low tide. The channel is much deeper and soon after we were tied up to the jetty.

Greg, Doug & Natasa had towed the fizz boat from Auckland so we launched the fizz boat and tied her to Zinkwazi and we set off back to Kawau. Were back at anchor by just after 4:00. Boys & Natasa went for a swim.

After opening pressies, it was time to eat. We had crostini with tomato & mozarella to start. Then glazed pickled pork with potato salad. With lots to drink of course.

Forecast for tomorrow is good so we’ll put the tender on a mooring (fizz boat & tender jostle and bounce about when being towed together) and take out the fizz boat. Greg is keen to try his wake board and Natasa the sea biscuit.
