Sunday, 26 October 2008 – Waikalabubu‏

Weather is crap – gale warning in place – average speed to exceed 33 knots but this can mean much stronger gusts. Labour weekend is the classic race where boats sail from Auckland to Bay of Islands and half boats have turned back because of bad weather. But we have not been out for a while so head out regardless.

Yesterday we had a boisterous sail from Westhaven to Isslington Bay and had a good night protected from the S-W winds. But today the wind has moved to the S-E so we have moved to the protection of Motatapu. The Hauraki Gulf is wonderful – always somewhere to hole up.

I have pea soup cooking and we are anchored in Waikalabubu alongside some friends so we are good.
