Friday, 17 October 2008 – Cheese and Wine at David Jones

October 18th, 2008 · No Comments

No Innaloo today!. Perth is not the shopping capital of Australia but does have Myer and David Jones. So I headed into the city and managed to accumulate a fair number of bags by early evening when I met Ross and Mark in David Jones.

David Jones had a sale on so we looked through the kitchen department and for less than $100 bought a fair number of kitchen gadgets. I was tempted by the heavily discounted good quality pots but am already worried about my measly baggage allowance so resisted. Then to the food hall. There is nothing like this in Auckland – but South African department stores used to have food sections where you could by exotic imported foods and have something to eat. Being a foodie this is a concept I favour.

So we hung my considerable number of bags on the specially provided hooks and seated ourselves at the granite counter of the cheese section. We ordered wine and a cheese platter which has a selection of bread and crackers and you choose the  cheeses from a menu. David Jones is a very elegant store with a black and white theme and everything is beautifully styled and understated. Just what I needed after an exhausting afternoon of pavement walking and credit card swiping!

Then home to drink port and play Buzz (a play station quiz game) and be throughly beaten by Mark (so unfair that he can answer sport and music questions)!

Cool shoes I bought.
