Piercy Island Pictures – 8-1-10

January 12th, 2010 · No Comments

I am always fascinated how detail emerges as you approach land and it fades as you lsail away from it. This sequence of pictures was taken as we approached Piercy Island (lies east of Cape Brett which is southern point of Bay of Islands). Was to rough to take any pictures as we rounded but then have a few taken off our aft deck looking back as as we sailed into the bay of Islands.

Approaching Cape Brett – Piercy Island 12:36

Piercy Island 12:57 – we’ve tacked out to sea to go around east of Piercy.

We could have gone between Cape Brett and Piercy Island, but with sea getting rougher we wanted plenty of sea room just in case.

Piercy Island 13:28 – Hole In Wall just coming into view

Piercy Island 13:46 – Hole in Wall fading as we move out to sea to round.

Piercy Island 13:59 – starting to round – about 2 miles from island

Piercy Island 14:14 – taken looking backwards off aft deck

We are now heading into Bay of Islands

Piercy Island 14:32 taken looking aft and detail starting to fade
